UN Women’s work with government and civil society delivers interlinked programmes focusing on transformative structural and institutional change to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment. The programmes aim to:
- Support the implementation of international commitments to gender equality and women’s empowerment by the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC), in consultation with rights holders including young women and LGBTIQ persons.
- Eliminate violence against women, girls, and LGBTIQ persons to ensure that survivors are empowered to use available, accessible, and quality essential services and recover from violence and Cambodia has an enabling environment to better prevent, respond and prosecute all forms of gender-based violence.
- Build movements and campaigns to address negative social and gender norms that are barriers for women and other genders to participate in the public sphere and access resources.
- Support national and sub-national responses to climate change and Disaster Risk Reduction that incorporate and address the priorities and needs of all women in Cambodia.
