Improved management of financial and human resources in pursuit of results
Compared to last year (2020), there is no significant change because UN Women was already benefiting from the use of these Common Services : 1. Common Procurement Services : almost all the goods and services that UN Women Burundi procured were covered by an inter-agency LTA. This helped a lot the office especially for the second quarter of 2021, as the dedicated Procurement Staff left UNWOMEN and the recruitment process for her replacement was finalized in November 2021. 2. Common Finance Services : instead of entrusting funds for workshops and trainings to the staff.personnel, UN Women Burundi uses services of a Local Bank, based on a LTA led by UNDP. This enables avoiding the risk of loss and/or theft and also preserve staff/personnel physical security. 3. Common ICT services : For internet connexions, maintenance of Office IT equipments, we are using existing inter-agency LTAs. The Internet package includes four free residential Internet connexion. This is a significant gain, as we save funds and are able to provide very reliable internet connexion to at least four staff members, in addition of the reduced offer we gain for going together with other Agencies. 4. Common logistics services : we use this line essentially for (i)Rent of Vehicles, (ii)Maintenance of transport equipment, (iii) Transit and customs clearance. Each of these lines is covered by an inter-agency LTA. 5. common Facility services, including Common Premises : Burundi CO shares Premises with UNICEF and UNFPA. As such the three Agencies are cot-sharing the Rent fee, Cleaning, Security Guards, Internet maintenance, the Reception Desk, Generators and maintenance,... We no common services related to Human resources for now. However, we usually share Rosters with other Agencies, as well as mutual support for recruitment processes. In 2021, UN Women used UNDP Roster to recruit a Driver.
Improved management of financial and human resources in pursuit of results
The existing staff members have increased their knowledge and skills thanks to their active participation in learning opportunities and the thematic community of practice within the Organization, as well as the experience exchange with fellows and partners from other UN Agencies, Government and CSOs through the various thematic working groups. However, there is an urgent need to increase the Country Office capacities in terms on number of staff members.
Improved management of financial and human resources in pursuit of results
Burundi Country Office invested in two main activities to ensure a smooth management of financial and human resources: 1. Increase technical knowledge and skills for personnel through face-to-face trainings as well as online webinars and eperience exchange within various Community of Practices. 2. Interagency collaboration which led to the use of more than 20 LTAs. This led to a significant gain in time and cost of transactions.
