Advancing business transformation
In 2023, UN Women continued to strengthen its programmatic approach with more synergies and complementarity. This is exemplified by its positioning as the leader of 3 coordination mechanisms of UN organizations, government and society. The NS and thus the new critacality plan materialize this programmatic intervention. The Coordination of the United Nations System in Niger has set up six (06) inter-agency proxy groups. Thus, UN Women has the Co-Lead of the Working Group, Resource Mobilization (GTMR), the Working Group on Gender and Human Rights (WG-DH) and the Working Group on Gender and Humanitarian (WG-H), and participates in the activities of the other groups in a transversal manner. It should be noted that the change of political regime that took place in Niger on 26 July 2023 affected the implementation of the 2023-2027 CCP of the United Nations System as a whole and the 2023-2027 NS of UN Women. This situation has led the UN System to undertake the criticality exercise to propose recommendations for the implementation of the CCP in the context of the crisis and to consider its revision at an appropriate time in order to align it with the country's new resilience agenda. However, the technical support of the RMWG under the Lead of UN Women has enabled the UNCT to implement a resource mobilization strategy in a coordinated and strategic manner towards achieving the system-wide commitments contained in the CCP 2023-2027.
Advancing business transformation
In order to meet the growing needs of government partners and target communities in terms of gender promotion and women's economic empowerment, the UN Women office in Niger undertook a restructuring of its organizational chart during 2024. This made it possible to free up the human resources needed to provide technical assistance for the 3 national thematic priorities defined, namely: women's economic empowerment, ending violence against women, the Women, Peace and Security agenda, and gender in humanitarian action. In addition, to support the UNSDCF program development process and strengthen its strategic positioning, the UN Women office has positioned thematic experts in each of the teams responsible for developing these programs and ensuring that gender is taken into account in these flagship programs, thereby maintaining the office's involvement in strategic discussions with the government, UN systems and other stakeholders
