UN Women's programming contributes to an enabling environment for women, peace, and security. Programmes focus on strengthening the leadership of women-led and women’s rights organizations to respond to the impact of the compounded crises of the COVID-19 pandemic and the coup which included prevention and protection from GBV, relief, and recovery assistance. The business accelerator programme and livelihood support to women and girls in Rakhine state have contributed to economic resilience and recovery of women-led businesses. The CO continues to raise awareness of gender-based violence and support safe migration for female migrants as part of the regional Safe and Fair initiative. Providing gender data and mainstreaming gender into coordination mechanisms across the development, humanitarian, and peace nexus contributes to gender-responsive policy and programmes of UN and development agencies in Myanmar.
